How are you, gorgeous?
I’m sitting here at the Airport of Nice in South France — looking bored on the outside but thinking HEAVILY on the inside — pouring my golden heart out to you. So let me ask you something…
Are you running your business like a pro but it still feels like a job sometimes?
Do you love your clients dearly but you’re still bending over backwards, trying a bit too hard to please them?
Are you spending all your time in front of your MacBook, still not taking care of your body, your mind and your spirit like you should?
You quit your annoying day job long time ago and now you finally do what you love… KINDA.
Oh boy — and this is the trap.
Sometimes you THINK you’re doing what you love but in reality you’re just doing something you like better than what you did before.
Which IS an improvement and part of your personal growth, so don’t get me wrong. But it can become a trap and a golden cage for us if we’re not 100% aware of it.
What exactly am I talking about?
So many things are changing! We are changing. Our relationships are changing. And OUR BUSINESSES are changing for real.
“Change is uncomfortable” they say.
“Comfortable is where you’re at right now” they say.
I say BEING UNCOMFORTABLE freakin’ shows you that something needs to change. (duh, right?)
So yes, I started to feel a little uncomfortable. I’m working too much. Too hard. Too long. And I still don’t get the results that I actually want.
My business isn’t Marie-Forleo-sized yet.
I don’t wake up to PayPal notifications in my inbox everyday.
And I don’t travel first class in Chanel PJs yet. (I did buy Chanel sunglasses though and oh my goodness they are HOT.)
But this is a freakin’ reality check.
I’m not where I want to be yet. This is only the beginning. Constantly learning, constantly growing and constantly trying to improve.
Am I freaking out about this? Nah.
Am I ready to take this seriously? Fuck yeah!
So what about that golden cage? Are you trapped in your own? Did you build one for yourself and put some shiny diamonds on the lock? If so — that’s okay! I did too and it’s still better than a regular, boring steel cage, right? (I do like my gold!)
But it’s time for us to get the F out of there!
I don’t care how fast others build their business, how high they soar within 3 months, how insanely and intimidatingly huge their email-lists are and how many fucking programs they’ve sold while I was still over here trying to “figure things out”.
I’m tired of looking sideways, losing track of my own road. It’s time to look within, people! Because THAT’S where the real gold is.
Does that sound too “spiritual” for you? Too “woo-woo”? Then you need to hear it even more.
Are you doing what you love? I mean what you really, really, truly madly deeply love? Are you “living your purpose”? (can’t believe I’m using this phrase… I need to go on vacation ;)
Or are you locked up in that shiny, glittery, oh-so-golden cage?
I mean it, I want you to take a moment and answer these questions for yourself:
- Where are you lacking LOVE in your business and life?
- Where are you playing small, hiding in your golden cage even though you know you have bigger things to share, a greater impact to make?
- What areas of your business and life need more HEART in order for you to thrive like a superstar?
Ain’t nothin’ wrong with a little soul striptease from time to time.
And I’d love to listen to yours!
How are you doing? Did you raise your hand to any of this? Don’t just read these questions and file them under “things I may or may not do whenever I have time” — that’s not gonna happen. Do yourself a favor and answer them right now. Give yourself a reality check. You need to become aware first if you want to make shi(f)t happen.
It’s time to wake up!
Share your reality and your answers to the questions in the comments with me! It’s a totally judgement-free zone!
I love you, I believe in you and I want you to be able to shine your light so freakin’ bright that it melts away your golden cage and then you can make blingy rings and fancy bracelets out of all that excess gold. Don’t forget to put your diamond on it ;)
